Man Sent To Jail For Killing His Wife In Act Of Mercy

50 Year old Chris Chumbley who was charged with the murder of his wife, has been recently given the option of pleading guilty to manslaughter and stands to get about 15years in prison, when he is sentenced.

Chris Chumbley shot his wife, Jenny Chumbley to death using a handgun in her home. Jenny had cancer which overtime, had spread all over her body, giving her excruciating pains. She lived in so much pains, her body was covered with blisters so much that whenever she wasn't bedridden, she'd be on a wheelchair.

On the night of the shooting, Chris called 911 and told the operator that answered, how he had killed his wife in act of mercy as she had requested.

After a 2013 hearing, Jenny's mother, Rita Smith told news men that her daughter never wanted to die instead, what she wanted was a chemotherapy. Though in Jenny's own case, her husband and the prosecutors had a disagreement over how long she really would have had to live.

Chris said she had a few weeks to live but prosecutors said she had longer than that to live. Tony Chumbley (Chris's brother) said Chris and Jenny had watched Chris's mother die in very severe pains and a most painful death at that, as she died slowly of lung cancer. She told Chris that she never wanted her death to be that painful nor did she want it dragged on just the same way like his mother.

Tony even went ahead to say if her wife were to be in such a condition and asked for the same, that he only hopes he'd be man enough to grant her the wish.
There are several other cases of mercy killing, pending in court.
