The Nation reports that there was massive deflection of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters to the All Progressives (APC) on Thursday, March 31, at Afo in Ose local government area of Ondo state. The deflectors were led by chief R.B Animola, a community leader in an event witnessed by party supporters. Oni Olowo, the Asiwaju of Afo community attributed the success to grassroot mobilization and sensitization of the people.
He commended Animola, the leader of the decampees, who worked for the realisation of the massive defection of PDP members to APC in the community. Olowo expressed his gratitude on behalf of the six Irekari communities in the local government area. He appreciated God that he witnessed the reception of those he called “children” who almost lost to the falsehood and deception orchestrated by the “clueless” leadership of the past ruling party in the country for 16 years. He expressed delight for the opportunity to lead many people from the “darkness to light,” stressing that they would work to ensure the victory of the party in the state during the November 2016 governorship poll.
“Come February 2017, we want to send the usurpers in the administration of the sunshine stay away with our votes and we are fully determined to achieve this,” he said. Meanwhile, the Bayelsa state chapter of the All Progressive Congress is no longer with happy with the presence of the Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri in the federal executive council and have asked him to resign.
