woman earned her good marks in exemplary good behaviour. A virtuous woman scores and is rated highly from the home by her children, husband, outsiders, and by God. She is praised for looking well to the affairs and ways of her household as an excellent home maker, and home manager, full of wisdom. The Proverbs 14:1 says “ Every wise woman buildeth her house ( home); but the foolish woman pluketh it down with her hands. A key principle is for women to agree with God that it is part of a woman’s wisdom to treasure her home; and to invest all in her to build it without any stint. QUALITIES OF THE VIRTUOUS WOMAN PROVERBS 31:10-31 The virtuous woman earned her good marks in personal good qualities. She is: -Reliable -Her husband trusts her -She is industrious and brings in food from her hard
work -Feeds her household regularly. This means that she can spend her own money to augment whatever food money her husband is giving her. - Is good with her hands, makes and sells things -Gives to the poor -Invests for the future in savings -Sews clothing for the family -Opens her mouth with wisdom, discretion, kindness, gentleness, and no yelling. -Is a home manager and looks well to the ways of her household. -Her children call her blessed -Her husband commends her The virtuous woman recognized the husband as the head of the family; this is by Divine Order. God made the man the head of the family, and of the wife. Eph. 4:23. Even if the woman is more educated or has more money, the man is still the head, and deserves respect as the head; as he himself honours the Lord as the Lord and Owner of the family. However, headship goes with responsibility. A man should show responsibility in providing for the family- according to his means. He should not be derelict. See 1 Timothy 3:5. He should know how to rule his own house. 1 Timothy 5:8 He should provide for his family. A man earns respect by Love of God and Love of his wife. A man does not have to DEMAND respect. He earns it by Love, Obedience and Submission to God; and self-respect. The man as head is answerable to God as the priest of the family as to the spiritual condition of his family; and the honour and worship of God in his family. If he defaults, and if he is a God hater or a scoffer, his wife should keep Jesus in the home- by all means because no family can do without Jesus. Family should keep together. SOME VIRTUOUS WOMEN IN THE SCRIPTURE -THE POOR WIDOW OF ZAREPHAT 1 KINGS 17: 8-15 The poor widow of Zarephat offered Prophet Elijah her last meal, and got back what lasted for a lifetime. -THE SHUNAMITE WOMAN 2 KINGS 4: 8-17 At Shunem, a rich and charitable woman sustained Elisha. The Shunamite woman received Prophet Elisha into her house, and got her long-awaited child. -THE VIRTUOUS WIDOW RUTH God used Ruth to show His limitless grace-even for an accursed nation, Moab, and He involved Ruth in the genealogy of Jesus Christ, Ruth 4:11 ESTHER-THE SAVING OF A NATION God used Queen Esther to save the children of Israel from being wiped out by the decree of the Persian king- Ahasearus. The king reversed the decree at the intervention of Esther. Esther 8:5. RAHAB-TWO MEN SAVED BY RAHAB: JOSHUA 2: 1-4, 6: 22-23, 6:25 Rahab received the spies and hid them. Because of that, herself and her household were saved during the destruction of the land of Jericho. HULDAH God used Huldah to instruct the children of Israel, 11 King 22: 14. When they needed guidance and instruction. DEBORAH God used Deborah as His battle axe against Jabin of Canaan Judges 4:9. SAMARITAN WOMAN God used the woman of Samaria to evangelize Samaria for two days, John 4: 39-40.
