A fake reporter claiming to be in the employ of the British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC) Hausa Service, has been arrested and handed over to Police by the authorities of  Federal Medical centre, Keffi, after his evil machinations aimed at defrauding the institution was uncovered.
The Medical Director of the  hospital, Dr. Joshua Giyan handed over one Nura mohammed who claimed to be the reporter covering the the North Central geo-political zone of the country  for BBC to the Police for prosecution.
Giyan, while addressing newsmen in Keffi on Monday said the chief security officer of the centre, Monday Adamu, was directed to hand over Mohammed to Nigeria police for prosecution after he was arresyed in the  board room of the centre for an interview with the CMD.
He said that it is a serious offence in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for any one to impersonate and urged the police not to allow the fake reporter go free.
“Mr. Nura Mohammed came to me claiming to be the North central correspondent of BBC Hausa and wanted to have an interview with me  to clear some issues leveled against this centre bordering on allegations of corruption, misappropriation of funds, employment scam, among others.
“He also told me that he went to FMC, Bida, Niger state,  along with the minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole,  to commission an NHIS building which later proved to be false when I contacted the FMC Bida medical director on the commissioning of the NHIS building.
“After my investigation, with the assistance of the Public Relations office unit of this centre, it was discovered that Mr.Nura Mohammed is not a reporter with the BBC Hausa at all and that they don’t even have any BBC reporter or correspondent in Nasarawa state,” he said.
Giyan urged the police to prosecute the impersonator accordingly and also advised the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) to deal with the impersonator to serve as deterrent to others.
The CMD also denied allegations of misappropriation of fund, employment scam and shortage of qualified doctors, adding that such allegation are coming from those that do not wish the centre and the country well.
He restated the commitment of the centre to continue to improve on the welfare of its staff and called on the staff of the centre to complement government efforts through hard work in order to ensure quality service delivery.
Reacting, the impostor, Mr.Nura Mohammed, said he was a staff of the Nasarawa state Broadcasting corporation(NBS) and also  a correspondent with the BBC Hausa.
“I am the North central Nigeria correspondent of BBC Hausa and an NBS staff, I  want to get some clarifications with the FMC,Keffi medical Director which borders on allegations of misappropriation of fund and employment scam among others”.
