Rihanna Signs A $10 Million Beauty Product Deal
Rihanna has reached ridiculously creative fashion heights this year. She redesigned the iconic Puma shower shoe. She rocked (literally!) fashion week with a star-studded Fenty x Puma collaboration show which garnered rave reviews. And even designed denim chap boots with Manolo Blahnik. She’s pretty much conquered every fashion milestone (up to and including being named an “Icon” by the CFDA), so she’s turning her sights to beauty, in a big way.
The star will launch Fenty Beauty by Rihanna in fall 2017, partnering with the Kendo beauty division of the luxury goods company, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, to create her own makeup collection. According to WWD it’s estimated that LVMH’s deal may have reached $10 million to secure the line. Chief executive officer of Kendo, David Suliteanu, told the magazine, “Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a beauty rocket ship that will appeal to a huge and diverse global audience. We are aiming for the stars.”
The singer has dabbled in the makeup game in the past, with a collaboration with MAC Cosmetics in 2013 and she fronted Viva Glam‘s lipstick campaign in 2014 to raise funds for AIDS research. She also has seven top-selling fragrances to her name. Kendo has developed its celebrity relationships in past years by launching Kat Von D Beauty and Marc Jacobs Beauty.
