Euro 2016: No Ronaldo worries for Wales
— 5th July 2016Wales most influential player, Gareth Bale, says himself and his teammates are not thinking of Ronaldo as they gear up for tomorrow’s semi final showdown against Portugal.
Bale spoke just as he resorted to training alone ahead of the encounter.
The Real Madrid forward said yesterday that Ronaldo’s presence in Portugal’s squad was no big deal as the match is all about two nations in a semi final of a tournament.
“It’s not about two players, its about two nations in a semi final, 11 men against 11 men…Ronaldo is a fantastic player no doubt, we have always spoken about what we can do as a team. We don’t worry about the opposition,” Bale said.
Meanwhile, Bale trained apart from his teammates yesterday.
While Bale’s teammates warmed up on the pitch at the team’s training base in Dinard, northwest France, the Real Madrid star and midfielder David Edwards were put through their paces by a fitness coach.
A Football Association of Wales spokesman told AFP that Bale was not injured.
Defender Ben Davies and in-form midfielder Aaron Ramsey were present, despite both being suspended for tomorrow’s game in Lyon.
The only absentee from the 23-man squad was winger David Cotterill, who observes a customised training schedule devised in consultation with his club, Birmingham City.
Wales qualified for the first major tournament semifinal in their history by beating Belgium 3-1 in Lille last Friday.
They are due to train in Dinard again today before storming Lyon later in the day.
